DOMiDLabs at the conference "Offen? Kritisch? Inspirierend? Museen als aktive Orte der Demokratie“

Offen? Kritisch? Inspirierend?

From September 18 - 20, 2024, the conference "Offen? Kritisch? Inspirierend? Museen als aktive Orte der Demokratie" took place at the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum, Dresden. The conference addressed actors in museum practice and theory as well as experts from the fields of cultural and political (educational) work, art, science and (cultural) politics. In addition to high-ranking panels, the conference included a diverse program. Part of this was the DOMiDLabs project team - Sandra Vacca, Dr. Azziza B. Malanda and Carmen Steins. In their forum “DOMiDLabs: Partizipation auf dem Weg zum bundesweiten Migrationsmuseum”, they presented the three-year project from various perspectives. They also discussed multi-perspective participation processes, methods, procedures, challenges and solutions with the participants.

The conference was the final event of the four-year joint project “Museen als aktive Orte der Demokratie” of the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum and the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. The event was a cooperation with the Federal Agency for Civic Education and the John Dewey Research Center for Didactics of Democracy at the Technical University of Dresden.
